Double Chocolate Chunk Smoothie Bowl


I laugh when people tell me they don’t like smoothies. Because they clearly haven’t had one of mine! Trust me when I say that I’m still waiting for someone to tell me they don’t like the smoothie bowl creation I’ve made for them. Who doesn’t like combinations like chocolate peanut butter ripple, cookie dough and caramel swirl or mint chocolate chip?

Back in high school, I went through an oatmeal phase and would make my dad the most elaborate and crazy concoctions for breakfast. Over time, as he started to believe me when I told him I wasn't trying to sneak any extra health foods into his bowls (which I obviously did!), I got more experimental with the flavor combinations and toppings. In a way, it was kind of like art!

With the hot summer days starting to roll in, I’ve swapped the oatmeal out for a smoothie bowl. Oatmeal is great, but who doesn’t want to eat a smoothie bowl that tastes like chocolate ice-cream for breakfast, lunch or dinner? I thought so 😉

Double Chocolate Chunk Smoothie Bowl

Serves: 1


  • ½ banana, frozen
  • ¼ avocado
  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ cup unsweetened non-dairy milk (almond, cashew, coconut, oat…)
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 3 large strawberries
  • ½ Genuine Health Fermented Double Chocolate Protein Bar or protein bar of choice
  • Pinch of sea salt


  1. Add the banana, avocado, protein powder, cocoa, milk and ice into a high speed blender and blend until smooth. If needed, add additional amounts of water until you reach the desired consistency.
  2. Pour the mixture into a bowl and top with sliced strawberries, protein bar bites, almond butter and sea salt.
  3. Enjoy!
